The best winter houses are built around a fire and a long sofa. That is where the week actually happens: boots off, stories from the mountain, a slow dinner.
We look for ceiling height, a real fireplace or a well-designed wood stove, and enough seating for the whole group.

Hot tubs and terraces
An outdoor hot tub in falling snow is the postcard moment guests remember. South-facing terraces also matter on blue-sky afternoons.
Not every chalet has both. We will say clearly what is on the terrace so you are not surprised.

Bedrooms that recover you
Comfort is not only the living room. Ensuite bathrooms, blackout blinds and quiet rooms facing the forest make the difference on a seven-night stay.
Families should ask for ground-floor rooms or a bunk room. Couples often want a quieter wing.
